Great films, special experiences and some fun along the journey – exactly what festivals do best!
We champion independent productions from Cork, from Ireland and from across the world. Great films continue to be made, films that often don’t get to cinemas or to TV.
We believe that festivals are ideal places for such productions, that the network of festivals is an important alternative distribution and exhibition circuit.
We know that Cork audiences welcome independent films and we are committed to screening them.
What venues will we use?
IndieCork’s home is the wonderful Gate Cinema. We also partner with the Firkin Crane for our Dance On Film and Poetry-Film programmes and this year, for the first time, the hugely popular Film Feast. The Crane Lane Theatre is the venue for the extensive indie music progamme. Workshops will be led in Cork School of Music and Crawford college of Art & Design.
What kind of films?
IndieCork presents short films, documentaries and features and a number of special events. It’s about creativity. We champion cinema that engages with social, political and cultural matters. We support young and emerging filmmakers and we give audiences and opportunity to meet with filmmakers. The overlap between music and cinema whether as music docs or music promo films also interests us. We to celebrate the vibrancy of the local filmmaking sector in the Creative Cork programmes.
